It’s been a long, frustrating, three-year process, but if nothing else goes wrong, in 30 days construction crews from the Town of Raymond will be breaking ground just east of the golf course to begin laying the infrastructure of Phase I and II of Stonegate Meadows.

“Our intent was to keep the subdivision in the county,” explains Kelly Jensen, who along with her husband Dennis, is developing the land. “But the town wanted to grow, so they asked us if they could annex the property. But it took a long time to get annexed.”

Then there were studies that had to be done by about 30 separate agencies, including Alberta Transportation which had to decide whether or not to change the speed limit at the entrance to Stonegate or maybe even put in lights. In June of 2009, the Jensens submitted a conceptual design scheme and in December it was finally approved by the town, and the land was rezoned from urban reserve to general residential.
