
Alberta Weekly Newspaper Association (AWNA)
The AWNA represents approximately 113 community newspapers located in Alberta and the Northwest Territories. They provide support, professional development and national marketing for member papers. The AWNA boast a combined verified circulation of 634,995.
The AWNA’s mission is to encourage, assist and ensure members publish high quality community newspapers. The Association achieves this by prioritizing education, marketing and fellowship.
To be a member of the AWNA, a community newspaper applies and then is monitored for a minimum of 12 months to ensure a strict code of ethics and standards are followed. Each of the member papers must continue to maintain those standards.
Canadian Community Newspapers Association (CCNA)
The CCNA is a federation of seven regional newspaper associations (of which the AWNA is one) giving a national voice of the community press in Canada.
The seven regional associations that compose the CCNA are:
- Atlantic Community Newspapers Association
- Quebec Community Newspapers Association
- Ontario Community Newspapers Association
- Manitoba Community Newspapers Association
- Saskatchewan Weekly Newspapers Association
- Alberta Weekly Newspapers Association
- British Columbia & Yukon Community Newspapers Association
Through these seven regional associations, CCNA represents more than 700 English-language community newspapers with a total first-edition circulation of more than 7.7 million copies per week.
