What was once deemed OK is now considered politically incorrect or has come under fire with today’s ‘cancel culture.’Just because something has ‘always been that way’doesn’t make it right. The world is kind of coming to terms with its history – both bad and good.
There are many sides to this story with one side being it’s best to leave things alone, so ‘we can learn from it,’grow and hopefully change – while on the other side of the coin there’s the desire to get rid of whatever it is that ails ‘us’or makes it uncomfortable. The sad aspect is – history does repeat itself, especially if left unchecked.
Existence is a mixed bag of emotional baggage, preconceived notions, learned behaviours and opinions and beliefs. It’s chock-full of misconceptions, bad choices and a sense of lethargic lack of apathy –at times. As the world continues to turn, its inhabitants become numb to the realties that haunt us. There are never easy answers to life’s endless supply of questions and tests.
What was once common place and/or somewhat accepted is now inappropriate -but it was always probably inappropriate from the get-go. Throughout this time ticking clock of insanity, humans have developed good and bad habits. The bad habits often grow into difficult issues to be addressed. And many times, these habitual nuisances develop into a disease.
Self-awareness is something to root for in today’s world of a thousand faces. Choosing to talk it out, seeking counselling and acceptance are great first steps. Change is a very difficult thing to pursue, but can be a definitive moment in your time/space continuum. Yesterday’s popular conceptions, could be today’s unaccepted forms of engagement.
Learning from yesterday’s failures and/or misinformed maladies is a way to make amends and shouldn’t be taken lightly. It’s important to accept, steer clear of denial and saunter on with a desire to make things right for you and the rest of the world. We’re all in this together, and always have been.
Today is a day to seize with all its glory. Make it a better day than yesterday for you and your neighbours on planet Earth. Be nice, play well and work towards an even better tomorrow. It’s an ambitious and noble cause, anyone and everyone can achieve.
