Town of Raymond briefs

The following are briefs of the Town of Raymond’s Aug. 18 meeting.

Fire Chief Delegation: Fire Chief Doug Holt visited Council to discuss Alberta Health Services plans to consolidate dispatch centres throughout the province. The Fire Chief is concerned that consolidation will result in communication inefficiencies and negatively affect emergency response.

Bylaw First Readings: Council passed first readings of a Rescinding Bylaw, and amended Animal Regulations and Solid Waste Management Bylaws. Administration will share more information with the public on these bylaws in the coming days.

Council Communications: Council approved issuing advocacy letters regarding proposed changes to provincial assessment and changes to the provincial dispatching system.

2020 Capital Budget and the Stimulus Funding Program: The town has been awarded funding through the provincial Stimulus Funding Program. Council discussed project options for allocating the funding.
