Deep South Basketball Round-up

The Immanuel Christian Eagles varsity and junior varsity boys each earned a win during Deep South Basketball Conference play last Thursday.

Ryan Degner led the Eagles with 13 points as Immanuel Christian downed the Coaldale Kate Andrews Pride 61-53 at Immanuel Christian.

Jeremy Van Belle added 11 points for the Eagles and Landon Veluw hit for 10.

For the Pride, Andrew Thompson led the way with 19 points and Colter Pavka had 10.

In the junior varsity game, Degner hit for 18 points as Immanuel Christian downed Kate Andrews 59-27.

Josh Sluijmers chipped in with 12 points for the Eagles.

Brandon Hall replied with 10 points for the Pride.

In other varsity boys play Thursday, the Stirling Lakers earned an 88-67 win over the Picture Butte Sugar Kings in Picture Butte.

Brady Sillito had a 26-point night for the Lakers, while Carson Sillito and Hunter Michelson had 19 and 12 points, respectively.

Ty Sakal had 16 points for the Sugar Kings, while Jabob Thiessen added 15.

In girls varsity play Thursday, the Eagles girls downed the Pride 99-26.

Britney Vande Munt led the Eagles with 29 points and Juliana Middel added 17. Brittany Veldman and Catherine Wever each had 12 points for Immanuel Christian.

Haylee Hilgersom replied with seven points for Kate Andrews.

In the junior varsity game, Immanuel Christian won 73-40 over Kate Andrews as Vande Munt had 19 points. Jenna Aleman scored 14 points for Immanuel Christian and Olivia Leenstra chipped in with 10.

Victoria Reed led the Pride with 13 points.

In girls junior varsity action Wednesday, the Eagles defeated the Pride 73-40.

Vande Munt scored 19 points for the Eagles. Aleman added 14 points and Leenstra had 10.

Victoria Reed led Kate Andrews with 13 points.

In other Deep South play Wednesday, the Claresholm Willow Creek Cobras boys team earned a 108-66 home win over Immanuel Christian.

Nic Harder led the Cobras with 31 points, Ross VanRootselaar added 19 and Jean-Pierre Otero Rodriguez had 16.

For the Eagles, Veluw led with 11 points and Nathan Sinke and Jeremy Van Belle each had 10.

The Eagles won the junior varsity game as Degner struck for 29 points. Levi Vroom drained 18 points for Immanuel Christian and Cody Jonker added 10.

Daxton Woodward had 18 points for Willow Creek, while Daniel Schuepbach chipped in with 14 and Cole Dixon added 10.

In girls play Wednesday, the Lakers defeated Willow Creek 77-22.

Amy Mazutinec led Stirling with 23 points. Sadie Nelson and Savannah McKee added 14 and 12 points, respectively.

Emily Chartand scored 10 points for the Cobras.

Stirling won the junior varsity game 66-22 as Nelson led the Lakers with 24 points, McKee had 14 and Nelson scored 12.

Kelby Keely replied with eight points for Willow Creek.
