Great week for the Cardston Thunder

Posted on December 7, 2022 by admin

U11:
Only one game was on the schedule for the U11 Cardston Thunder which would see them travel to Coaldale on Nov. 26.
After an early goal by Coaldale in the first period, the Thunder answered back with a goal of their own in the first period by Jenkin Williams. Unfortunately Coaldale found the back of the net a few more times to put the Thunder on the backfoot. Cardston was unable to score in the second period, but sensing blood in the water they potted two more in the third, with Eddie Little Shields and Benjamin White Quills holding the sticks to end with a 3-5 loss.

U13:
Two games were on schedule for the U13 Cardston Thunder, with them not having to travel this week.
Defending their house in the first game on Nov. 25, the Thunder welcomed the Picture Butte Blades to their arena. They traded goals in the first period, with Hudson Harty finding the back of the net for Cardston.
Picture Butte took the lead in the second, but the Thunder kept right on their heels with goals from Buddy Fox and Hudson Harty. Down one going into the third period, Cooper Sommerfeldt Heather found the back of the net early-on to tie the game and they’d skate off with a 4-4 score.
On Nov. 26, they welcomed Crowsnest Pass to their arena. The first period was all Cardston, with Checotah Many Grey Horses, Sommerfeldt Heather, Nixon Sommerfeldt and Zayah Bevans all scoring once to put up a good lead going into the second. The Pass showed some life in the second period, but the Thunder were on fire, seeing more goals from Sommerfeldt, Bevans and Sommerfeldt Heather; Hardy and Strider Rabbit also chalked up singles.
In the third period, the only goal was made by Stryker Weasel Head to end the game 2-10 for the Thunder.
