Feds accepting emergency wage subsidy application starting April 27

Beginning April 27, applications will be open for the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy (CEWS), intended to backstop struggling businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic with a payroll subsidy of up to 75 per cent.

A new website launched by the CRA will allow employers to read the latest information published on eligibility criteria, conditions and how to apply: http://www.canada.ca/en/revenue-agency/services/subsidy/emergency-wage-subsidy.html. This site also offers a tool that will help employers calculate and predict the amount they can claim.

It is expected that 90 per cent of requests will be processed between April 27 and May 5, 2020 and that payments will follow soon thereafter.
