The Health Quality Council of Alberta (HQCA) has launched a new survey to understand the impacts to Albertans during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“While the HQCA regularly surveys Albertans about their experiences in specific areas of healthcare delivery, we knew we needed a special survey about the extraordinary circumstances we find ourselves in now,” says Andrew Neuner, CEO of HQCA. “COVID-19 has led to many changes over the past couple of months. It’s important for an independent body to check in with Albertans to see what’s being done well, and where we can continue to improve. This will be invaluable information for Alberta.”
HQCA’s survey asks Albertans for their perceptions on health system access, public health measures, mental health supports, family physician care, the many sources of COVID-19 information available, and whether people feel protected from COVID-19 infection.
The survey findings will be shared with Albertans and provincial leaders – including stakeholders in the health system – so they can reflect on the data, and consider opportunities for improvement in the months ahead.
“We believe the voice of the patient is foundational to quality improvement in healthcare,” said Dr. Greg Powell, chair, HQCA Patient and Family Advisory Committee. “We hope Albertans take advantage of the opportunity to give feedback and help shape continued improvements of the healthcare system – especially now.”
The survey is available on HQCA’s website. It will take about 15 minutes to complete. It’s open to any Albertan, 16 years of age and older. All responses are completely confidential.
