Virtual open house coming

Kainai Resources Inc. and Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. will be holding a virtual open house on Sept. 24.

While normally an open house would consist of renting a space and have physical booths set up detailing different activities, due to pandemic health restrictions, it was decided to host this one online.

“We typically would have booths during the open house that outline the various different activities involved in drilling, completing and producing an oil or gas well in this play. It provides an interactive format for stakeholders to learn about our activities and interact directly with Tamarack and KRI staff from the Blood Reserve,” said Mike Anderson, surface land manager for Tamarack Valley Energy Ltd. “Due to COVID-19 and the risks involved of holding a large in-person meeting, the Monarch Community Association decided that those risks were too high at this point in time to proceed with an in-person open house and Tamarack and KRI were in agreement with that assessment. As a result, in an effort to continue to share information, gather feedback, and respond to questions from the community, we decided to hold a virtual open house instead.”

The virtual open house would provide a platform for stakeholders to login and view a presentation where operational activities, such as drilling, completing and producing a well will be explained, similar to an in-person open house event. Tamarack and KRI employees will present the different steps and activities involved, and those viewing the open house will be able to type in questions they may have throughout the presentation, which would be addressed by the relevant expert. These questions will also be posted with responses online.

Tamarack and KRI will also provide information on the different stages and regulations involved in developing the province’s resources, and talk about Tamarack and KRI’s partnership, and the benefits to the Blood Tribe and its membership as a result of the partnership.

“We have three main play types we are involved in, being Cardium oil in west central Alberta, Viking oil in east central Alberta and Penny Barons oil on the Blood Reserve. The Banff play, which is the subject of the open house, is a relatively new play for Tamarack and to date we have drilled two wells on the Blood Reserve,” said Anderson.
