RCMP are investigating a collision between a semi-truck and a school bus last Friday.

At 7:28 a.m. on Jan. 15, Raymond/Magrath RCMP, along with EMS and the Magrath Fire Department, responded to a twovehicle collision at Range Road 222 and Township Road 62 north of Magrath.

The preliminary investigation revealed a semi-truck hauling manure was travelling eastbound on Range Road 222 and a school bus was heading northbound on Township Road 62 when they collided at the intersection. The drivers of their respective vehicles were the only occupants in the vehicles.

The driver of the school bus sustained minor injuries, and the driver of the semi-truck was taken to a local hospital by EMS with non-life threatening injuries. The collision remains under investigation.

A statement from Westwind School Division said the division’s thoughts are with the families affected by the accident and the individuals being treated for their injuries.

“We can confirm the RCMP is investigating this incident. We continue to co-operate with all authorities during the process. We cannot provide further details on the accident, while it continues to be under investigation,” the division said in their statement. “Westwind School Division will communicate meaningful information with families whenever we can and would like to assure parents and students of Westwind School Division student safety remains the school division’s priority.”
