The Raymond Comets high school football team is on a roll.
A week after a dominating 50-0 win over the Lethbridge Collegiate Institute Rams, Raymond dismantled the Cardston Cougars by a 58-0 count.
After a tough start to the season, where Raymond dropped its first game against the No. 1 ranked Harry Ainlay Titans, and also lost star running back Brock Barnett in the process, Raymond has its season back on track.
In the latest Football Alberta rankings, Raymond came in at No. 3, just behind Ainlay and No. 2 Salisbury.
Now, the Comets prepare for a date against Tier 2 Medicine Hat, as Raymond is set to travel to face the Hawks tonight.
On the court, local teams are also seeing success in the Southern Alberta Volleyball League.
Magrath leads the senior boys standings with a 3-0 record, while Magrath’s senior girls are sitting at 2-1. In JV play, Magrath is 2-2 in boys competition and the girls team is 3-0.
Raymond’s varsity girls team sits at 3-2, while the JC team is 1-3.
In boys varsity play this week, Magrath dumped Cardston by scores of 25-20, 25-19 and 30-28.
For the girls varsity teams this week, Raymond topped Taber St. Mary’s 21-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-22 and 15-9 in a marathon match.
JV boys play this week saw Magrath defeat Cardston 18-25, 25-21 and 18-16.
